SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Jan. 18, 2020 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, will feature a historic Sunday docket comprised of nearly 200 incredible vehicles selling with No Reserve, including Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Grateful Dead’s original equipment truck, at the 49th Annual Scottsdale Auction January 11- 19, at WestWorld of Scottsdale.
“We’re honored to announce that this year’s Scottsdale Auction is the largest publicly consigned No Reserve Auction in Barrett-Jackson history,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “As part of this new milestone, we’re extending the high-octane auction experience of Super Saturday into Sunday with nearly 200 incredible collector vehicles. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our auction guests on Sunday as we kick off our ‘Road to 50’ with the finale of our 49th Annual Scottsdale Auction.”
One of one with these options and documented as a factory R-code. Indian Fire Red with a Ram-Air Shaker blackout hood, powered by a 428 Super Cobra Jet V8 engine paired with a C6 Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission and 4.30 Traction-Lok Drag Pack.
Highlighting the Sunday sale is a 1949 Studebaker M5 Truck (Lot #1619) that was used as the early equipment truck for the historic rock band the Grateful Dead. Owned by renowned sound engineer Owsley “Bear” Stanley, this multicolored pickup was often parked at the band’s studio in Novato, California. Nicknamed “Dred,” this M5 pickup has been mentioned in several periodicals, websites and books in the last several decades. It was mentioned by name in Rolling Stone magazine in a feature article on Owsley in the November 25, 1982, issue. “Dred” is powered by an 8-cylinder engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. This piece of rock and roll history comes with the note from Owsley Stanley to Steve Cabella, a pop culture historian, along with additional provenance.

Also featured on Sunday is a one-of-one, documented factory R-code 1969 Ford Mustang 428 SCJ “R” Drag Pack (Lot #1591). Finished in Indian Fire Red with a Ram-Air Shaker blackout hood, this Mustang is powered by a 428 Super Cobra Jet V8 engine paired with a C6 Cruise-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission and 4.30 Traction-Lok Drag Pack. A 2015 Nissan GT-R Black Edition Custom Coupe (Lot #1603) is powered by an upgraded 3.8-liter VR38 twin-turbo V6 with 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Black Edition package includes numerous upgrades, including lightweight wheels, Brembo brakes and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler. Lot #1617 is a two-year, ground-up restored 1941 Dodge Power Wagon that’s powered by a new 5.7-liter V8 HEMI crate engine and includes a multitude of custom features.
